Driver Critically Hurt After Hitting Bridge in Coon Rapids

A 28-year-old man from Ramsey is in critical condition after a single-vehicle crash late Tuesday night in Coon Rapids.

The Minnesota State Patrol said the crash happened around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7 on Highway 10.

The driver of a 2018 Toyota Camry was traveling eastbound on Highway 10 when he left the roadway and struck the bridge deck at Round Lake Boulevard. He was the only person in the vehicle.

Troopers administered first aid on the scene before the man was transported to Mercy Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Authorities said alcohol or drug impairment were not suspected and the investigation was still underway as of publication.

Coon Rapids officers and fire crews responded to the area, along with Allina EMS. State Patrol investigators said the roadway was dry when the crash occurred.

The driver’s identity has not yet been released.
