Newport Apartment Attack Leaves Man Hurt, Woman in Jail
A Hudson woman is accused of carrying out a violent knife attack at a Newport apartment complex over the weekend.
Deputies responded to the Red Rock Square Apartments just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday, where they found a man outside the building with heavy bleeding from his arm and a wound above his eye.

He lost consciousness as deputies worked to stop the bleeding and was rushed to the hospital.
Inside the man’s apartment, deputies discovered blood on the floors, walls and furniture, along with a serrated knife left on a bed. Investigators said Alisha Marie Leflore Shack, 50, was inside wearing a shirt stained with blood. Shack allegedly told deputies that the man had been in a fight earlier with another male in Saint Paul and that the man followed him back to the apartment, but her account did not match security video from the building.
The video showed the victim arriving home uninjured around 12:30 a.m. and leaving minutes later injured and bleeding. Detectives said no one else entered the unit in between.
At first, the victim told investigators he was attacked by men in a pickup truck. He later admitted that Shack, who he had been dating, cut him with a large kitchen knife during an argument after they returned from a party in Minneapolis where she had been drinking. He said he initially lied because he did not want anyone to go to jail.
Shack was arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail. She is charged with third-degree assault causing substantial bodily harm, a felony that carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted. She made an initial court appearance on Tuesday where bail was set at $5,000 with conditions including no alcohol use, no use of dangerous weapons and random testing. She posted bail and was released from custody. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 29.
