RED WING—Just before 1 p.m., a deputy with the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office reported a male driver crashed into a power pole near the marina at Bay Point Park and was walking away from the vehicle.
Multiple 911 callers also reported the initial crash. A short time later, the man was reported to be suicidal and was “attacking” an officer on scene in the parking lot.
The officer requested backup immediately and reported shots were fired at the suspect, who was struck multiple times.
