Body Recovered From Pond in Maple Grove

Authorities are investigating after a worker discovered a body in a Maple Grove pond Friday morning.

Police said the call came in around 6:35 a.m. near 85th Avenue North and Valley Forge Lane North.

Officers found the body in a pond within the gravel mining area. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Water Patrol assisted Maple Grove Police in recovering the person from the water.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner was also called to the scene and will make a formal identification, determining the cause and manner of death.

Investigators said the case may be connected to a recently reported missing person. Police confirmed they are in contact with that person’s family as the investigation continues. At this time, authorities said there is no known risk to the community.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released and further updates are expected as the case develops.
