A Minneapolis woman leaned out the driver’s window of a white Chevrolet Tahoe and fired a gun as people on the street ducked out of the way, according to a criminal complaint.

Shakaries Dashavon Laird, who was 28 at the time of the alleged offense, is charged in Hennepin County District Court with two felony counts: intentional discharge of a firearm that endangers safety and reckless discharge of a firearm within a municipality. The complaint was filed Nov. 3 with a warrant for her arrest. Bail was set at $20,000.

According to the complaint, officers got a report of shots fired July 7 in the area of 34th Avenue North and Logan Avenue. The caller said a woman holding a gun out of the window of a white Tahoe had shot at her.

Officers found the Tahoe about 40 minutes later. While it was being towed, several women came out of a nearby home to ask why and to ask for property from inside it. Officers identified Laird as the owner. She gave her identification and the keys to the tow truck operators, the complaint says.

Camera footage reviewed by investigators shows the Tahoe heading north as a woman puts her head and left arm out the driver’s window and points a gun straight out, according to the complaint. Shots then appear to be fired as people in the background, including the 911 caller, duck and get out of the way. The woman in the video wore a blue shirt. A search of the Tahoe turned up a blue collared shirt identical to it.

In a phone call, Laird admitted driving the Tahoe and firing the gun, a 9 mm RXM, according to the complaint. A child was in the vehicle at the time, the complaint says.
