Tautalamaiaso Palo Pippitt faces a charge of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm, filed October 19 in Wright County District Court.

According to the complaint, Wright County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a home in Delano on October 17 for a medical assist. Deputies found a man lying on his back in the hallway, bleeding from the sides and front of his head, with blood visible on the floor. A woman at the scene appeared distraught and was tending to the man.

The complaint states the man told deputies he had tripped, fallen and hit his head, and that he lost consciousness but did not know what caused him to fall. The woman, identified as Tautalamaiaso Palo Pippitt, told deputies the man did not fall. She admitted to striking him on the head with a clothing iron and biting his arm.

Pippitt told deputies she has a domestic history and said she was not going to lie about what happened. She stated she knew she would be arrested and said she should be sentenced to death, according to the complaint.

The man was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for evaluation, as he was drifting in and out of consciousness and there were concerns about possible brain damage.

The complaint says Pippitt later gave a mirandized statement admitting she struck the man twice in the head with a clothing iron out of anger. She said she saw him fall to the floor, ran outside to calm down, and returned five minutes later to find him still on the floor before calling 911.
