A Lindstrom man sped away from law enforcement in Chisago County on October 1, 2026, then turned onto a dead-end road and stopped, according to charges.
Jacob Steven Coult, 44, of Lindstrom, faces a felony charge of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle. The charge was filed October 2 in Chisago County District Court.
According to the complaint, law enforcement at an intersection in Chisago County at about 6:21 p.m. saw a vehicle turning while the driver appeared to be trying to hide his identity. Officers followed the vehicle, which turned into a driveway. They went past the driveway and waited at another intersection, and after about five minutes the vehicle pulled out and drove past them. A check of the license plate revealed that the driver was not the registered owner.

Law enforcement continued to follow the vehicle, which was seen traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle overtook a pickup truck while appearing to cross a double-yellow line. Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens to initiate a pursuit. Coult accelerated but then quickly decelerated and turned onto a dead-end road, where he eventually stopped. Officers conducted a high-risk stop and ordered him out of the vehicle. He complied and was arrested.
At the time of his arrest, Coult was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The complaint says he had a misdemeanor warrant out of Chisago County and a felony probation violation warrant out of Isanti County.
If convicted of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, he faces a maximum penalty of three years and one day in prison.
