A Janesville woman drove off in a family member’s truck without permission, then returned to her apartment the next morning and was arrested for driving while intoxicated, according to the complaint.

Bailey Anne Blasing, 29, faces four charges: theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of driving while intoxicated and driving after revocation.

According to court records, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at about 9:51 a.m. on September 28, 2026, at an address in Waseca. The reporting party told law enforcement that Blasing had taken his truck without permission. He said another family member had driven the truck to Blasing’s apartment the night before, and when that family member woke up, both Blasing and the truck were gone.

The reporting party also stated that Blasing’s driver’s license was revoked and that she did not have permission to drive the vehicle.

While at the apartment complex, an officer saw a truck matching the description of the stolen vehicle entering the parking lot. Although the license plate did not match the number first provided, the reporting party later confirmed he had given officers the wrong plate. Officers confirmed the truck belonged to the reporting party and saw Blasing driving it.

After Blasing parked, an officer spoke with her. She admitted she had taken the truck to Janesville and to Walmart, and acknowledged she knew her license was not valid. The officer initially issued her a citation for driving after revocation.

During the interaction, the officer smelled alcohol coming from Blasing. She first denied drinking but later admitted to consuming several beers the previous night, saying her last drink was around 3:00 a.m. The officer conducted field sobriety tests and observed signs of impairment. Blasing provided a preliminary breath sample that showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.146.

Blasing was arrested for driving while intoxicated and taken to the Waseca County Jail. She agreed to a breath test, which showed a final blood alcohol concentration of 0.09. The complaint notes Blasing has two prior qualifying DWI incidents.

A probation officer issued an apprehension and detention order for Blasing. Later, the reporting party completed a stolen vehicle report at the police department and confirmed he wished to pursue charges. Another family member also confirmed Blasing did not have permission to take the truck.

The charges were filed Tuesday, September 29, in Waseca County District Court.
