A driver with slurred speech and bloodshot eyes was arrested in Blaine after police found a large quantity of methamphetamine in his vehicle and tests showed he had recently used the drug, according to charges.
Chrisshane Delpeches Graves, 43, of Stanchfield, faces charges of first-degree drug possession and driving while impaired by a controlled substance. The charges were filed Friday, September 4, in Anoka County District Court.
According to the complaint, officers stopped a vehicle at about 9:11 p.m. on August 12, 2025, near 101st Avenue NE and University Avenue NE in Blaine after noticing it displayed the wrong license plate. The driver, identified as Graves, was the only person in the vehicle.

Officers immediately observed that Graves had slurred speech, extremely bloodshot and watery eyes and droopy eyelids. When officers asked him to perform field-sobriety tests, Graves agreed and stepped out of the vehicle, but his movements were very slow. He showed several signs of impairment during the tests and was arrested for DWI.
During a search of the vehicle before it was towed, officers found a black travel toiletry bag behind the driver’s seat. Inside the bag were several plastic bags containing a white, crystal-like substance. The substance was submitted for further testing.
A sample of Graves’s blood was taken at 10:16 p.m. that night under a search warrant and sent to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. The test came back positive for methamphetamine at a concentration of 0.54 mg/L, a Schedule II controlled substance.
The next day, on August 13, 2026, Graves gave a post-Miranda statement to law enforcement. He admitted that he had smoked methamphetamine about 30 minutes before being stopped and said he knew there was methamphetamine in the vehicle, claiming it belonged to him.
On June 10, 2026, the Midwest Regional Forensic Laboratory reported that the substance seized from the vehicle contained methamphetamine.
A court date has not yet been set.
