A Duluth man smashed a woman’s car window and tried to pull her from her vehicle at a stoplight near the Incline Bowling Alley, prosecutors say.
Dominick Richard Crumley, 32, faces charges of attempted first-degree carjacking and fifth-degree drug possession.
According to the complaint, officers responded to a report of an attempted carjacking on August 21, 2026, near Superior Street and Sixth Street in Duluth. The victim, a woman born in 2005, told officers she was waiting at a stoplight after dropping off friends when a man, later identified as Crumley, appeared in the road and began approaching her Toyota Tundra.

The victim said Crumley ran toward her, yelling at her to get out of the car. She tried to reverse but was worried about hitting him, then shifted to drive to avoid him. Crumley reached her vehicle, continued yelling and punched the driver’s side window, shattering it and sending glass inside and outside the car.
He then grabbed the victim’s arm and tried to pull her out of the vehicle while attempting to unlock the door. The victim fought back with her free arm and saw Crumley reach toward his pocket, though she did not see him pull anything out. Crumley eventually turned away, and the victim drove to safety and called 911.
Officers observed minor swelling on the victim’s lip and scratches on her face. They began searching for Crumley and found him near the scene about 20 minutes later. Officers noted that Crumley matched the description from surveillance footage and had bleeding cuts on his arm with glass embedded in his skin.
During a search of Crumley at the time of arrest, officers found a small clear plastic bag containing a white crystal substance in his shorts pocket. They also recovered a fixed blade black-handled knife, a red box cutter and a black glove with reinforced plastic knuckles. The white substance weighed 5.7 grams and field tested positive for methamphetamine.
The charges against Crumley include attempted first-degree carjacking, alleging he tried to forcibly take the victim’s vehicle while armed with dangerous items, and fifth-degree drug possession for the methamphetamine found during his arrest.
The charge was filed August 24 in Saint Louis County District Court. A court date has not yet been set.
