A Roseville man and another suspect beat and robbed a man in a parking lot near basketball courts, striking him in the face with a handgun and threatening to kill him if he did not hand over his watch, according to charges.
Tremayne Pao McCoy, 22, faces a charge of aiding and abetting aggravated robbery in the first-degree, according to a complaint filed Tuesday in Ramsey County District Court.
The robbery happened at about 5:40 p.m. on August 9, 2026, when officers responded to a report of a robbery in Saint Paul. The victim was found with multiple bumps and cuts to his face, bleeding and appearing dazed. He was transported to the hospital, where he told officers he had been sitting in his car near the basketball courts, planning to call friends to play basketball, when a grey Kia K5 pulled up next to him.

According to the complaint, two light-skinned males with curly black hair exited the Kia. One wore a black t-shirt and gray sweatpants and was armed with a black and brown handgun, while the other, dressed in all black, carried a black “mini AR 15” style rifle. The suspects opened both doors of the victim’s car, threw something at him and began assaulting him.
The victim tried to drive away, but one suspect struck him in the face with the handgun 30 to 40 times and tried to take his watch. The other suspect poked the rifle into the victim’s side and took his wallet from his pants pocket. One of the suspects threatened to kill the victim if he did not hand over his watch.
The suspects took the victim’s silver Bulova wristwatch and wallet, then returned to the Kia K5 and left. The victim provided officers with the license plate number of the suspect vehicle, which was registered to a 2024 grey Kia K5. He later told police he had seen the same Kia at a nearby market earlier that day.
Later that night, at about 11:15 p.m., officers found the Kia K5 parked at the intersection of 6th and Arcade in Saint Paul, next to a Mercury Milan. The Kia was unoccupied, but three people were inside the Mercury Milan, including Tremayne Pao McCoy, who was in the rear passenger seat. McCoy wore light gray sweatpants and a black short sleeve t-shirt, matching the description given by the victim.
Officers recovered McCoy’s sweater from the vehicle, which contained his wallet and a silver Bulova watch with stones matching the description of the stolen watch. McCoy also had a card holder with his ID, cash and a medication bottle with another suspect’s name. Officers found keys to the Kia K5 on a red Nike lanyard in the front passenger area, and confirmed they belonged to the suspect vehicle. Multiple cell phones and a controlled substance were also recovered from the Mercury Milan.
Court records state that McCoy matched the physical description of one of the robbery suspects and was wearing clothing similar to what the victim described. The complaint also notes that McCoy had a felony warrant out of Anoka County for false imprisonment.
The charge was filed Tuesday, August 11. A court date has not yet been set.
