A Minneapolis man used Instagram to lure a woman to a Golden Valley address for a supposed narcotics transaction, then robbed her at gunpoint in broad daylight, according to charges.

Xzavion Dashaun Martin, 21, faces charges of first-degree aggravated robbery and simple robbery. The charges were filed Monday, August 17, in Hennepin County District Court.

According to the complaint, officers responded at about 12:30 p.m. on June 13 to the area of the 2400 block of Unity in Golden Valley after receiving a report of a robbery. The victim told officers she had been communicating with a person via Instagram who instructed her to meet at that location for a potential narcotics deal.

The person told the victim to bring prescription medication and to give it to a fictional third party. When the victim arrived, a man approached her vehicle, displayed a firearm and demanded her purse, which contained multiple credit cards and cash. The victim complied and handed over the items.

Officers reviewed the Instagram account used in the messages and identified Xzavion Dashaun Martin as a suspect. The victim later identified Martin in a photo line-up, court records show.

The complaint notes that Martin has two other robbery cases pending in Hennepin County and describes him as a safety risk to the public. Prosecutors requested a warrant for his arrest.
