Brooklyn Center police were dispatched to the motel around 5:15 p.m. after a reported stabbing. When officers arrived, they found the victim, an adult woman, inside the motel lobby with multiple lacerations to her head and face. Police described a large cut above her left eye along with additional wounds to her cheek and mouth. She was transported to the hospital for treatment.

While at the hospital, the victim told officers she had been standing in the hallway outside her room earlier that day speaking with another person when she noticed a woman nearby listening to the conversation. She said she confronted the woman and told her to stop listening, which led to an argument and then a physical fight. Prosecutors say Flowers pulled out a box-cutter style razor blade during the altercation and repeatedly slashed the victim in the head and face.

The victim told investigators she raised her hands to protect herself but continued to be cut, suffering an additional injury to her hand. She reported briefly losing consciousness during the assault and said she lost consciousness several more times while being transported to the hospital.

Investigators later conducted a photo lineup, and the victim identified Flowers as the person who attacked her. Police also reviewed surveillance video from inside the motel, which prosecutors say shows Flowers holding a knife and slashing at the victim’s head and face before leaving the building on foot.

Flowers was charged by warrant on Jan. 8 and was arrested that afternoon by Brooklyn Center Police. Her bail is set at $50,000. If released, Flowers is ordered to have no contact with the victim and is prohibited from possessing weapons. She faces up to ten years in prison on the second-degree assault charge and up to five years in prison on the third-degree assault charge if convicted.
