According to the criminal complaint, Saint Paul police were called at about 11:04 a.m. to a residence on the 800 block of Sherburne Avenue after a report that three males had broken into the home and assaulted two people. When officers arrived, two suspects had fled. The occupants were holding a third male, identified as Walker.
The homeowner told police she and her husband heard a loud noise and went upstairs to investigate. Inside the home, they encountered three men who had entered without consent. Police say the suspects assaulted the homeowner’s husband and a visitor who was at the residence.
The visitor, a 100-year-old man, told officers Walker struck him in the back of the head with a large rock. He said the men attempted to go through his pockets but did not take anything. Officers observed a large lump on the back of his head and found multiple rocks inside the living room.
The homeowner told police the suspects took her Apple iPhone 12 from the living room. She said she later learned that one of the visitors to the home may have owed money to one of the men involved.

The homeowner’s husband was later treated at United Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a severe concussion. He told police Walker struck him behind the ear on the right side of his head with a large rock.
In a post-Miranda interview, Walker told investigators he had used fentanyl earlier and woke up to find his phone missing. He said he and two other males tracked the phone to the Sherburne Avenue address. According to the complaint, one of the males broke a window and the group entered the home. Walker said he asked for his phone and became involved in a physical struggle. He denied striking anyone with a rock but admitted punching a male in the head.
