Medina police and the West Suburban Fire Department secured the area and evacuated nearby residents until explosives experts could arrive. Because of the unknown condition of the suspected dynamite, the Minneapolis Bomb Squad was called in to remove the items.

The squad collected all of the material and declared the area safe. Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
