Police Seek Man After Brutal Minneapolis Log Attack

A 45-year-old man is in a coma after a daytime assault in south Minneapolis and investigators are asking for the public’s help identifying a person seen near the attack.
The assault happened at about 1:15 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, near the intersection of East Franklin Avenue and 22nd Avenue South.

Minneapolis police say the victim was struck in the head multiple times with a log during the attack, causing severe injuries that left him hospitalized in critical condition.
Detectives assigned to the department’s Assault Unit have continued investigating in the weeks since, but no arrests have been made as of publication.

Investigators released an image of a man they say was observed in the area at the time of the assault and are asking anyone who recognizes him to come forward. Police have not said what led up to the incident or whether the victim and the person pictured knew each other.
Authorities say even small details could help move the case forward as detectives work to identify those responsible for the attack.

The collision happened around 1:20 p.m. at the intersection of 610th Avenue and 170th Street, where a southbound passenger car collided with a pickup truck pulling a flatbed trailer.
