Firefighters arrived to find flames inside a large three-story residential building that had been converted into multiple apartment and condominium units.

Crews quickly located the fire and brought it under control. Officials said the flames were contained to the room and apartment where the fire started, preventing it from spreading to other units in the building.

Firefighters located one adult occupant inside the affected unit. That person was carried out of the building and treated by Saint Paul Fire Department EMS before being transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
