Authorities say the incident began around 11 a.m. on Dec. 30 when the Chisago County Communications Center received a report of a person experiencing a mental health crisis at a business on Liberty Lane. The man barricaded himself inside the building housing chemicals and threatened to set it on fire.
Out of caution due to the chemicals stored at the business, nearby businesses and residences were evacuated while law enforcement established a perimeter. Crisis negotiators worked to de-escalate the situation as multiple public safety agencies responded.
