Man Found Fatally Shot in South Minneapolis Late July Fourth

A man in his 20s died after being found with a gunshot wound late Friday night in south Minneapolis, with police asking for any information that might help solve the case.

Firefighters were flagged down around 11:20 p.m. on July 4 near the 2700 block of Bloomington Avenue to check on an unresponsive man on the ground, police say.

Firefighters began CPR immediately and called for police and EMS. Officers arrived and confirmed the man had been shot and was showing no signs of life.

The victim was taken to the hospital but was later pronounced dead. His name is expected to be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner in the coming days.

Investigators documented evidence of gunfire at the scene and said it appeared multiple shots had been fired. As of Saturday afternoon, no arrests had been announced and no suspect information had been made public.

“Someone knows what happened to this man,” Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said. “We need anyone with information, no matter how minor it may seem, to share that information with us.”
