A 63-year-old man died Wednesday in Pine County after another driver reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign and struck his pickup, sending both vehicles into a ditch.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Kameron Lee Ellis, of Hinckley, was traveling eastbound in a 2021 Ford F-150 on Highway 48 near Wildlife Road around 6 p.m. when a 1999 Ford F-150, driven by 40-year-old Cory Shawn Olson, of Cambridge, entered the intersection from Wildlife Road without stopping at the posted sign.

Olson’s pickup collided with the side of Ellis’s vehicle, causing both trucks to leave the roadway and crash into the southeast ditch. Ellis, 63, was the sole occupant of his vehicle and died at the scene. Troopers say he was wearing a seat belt.
Olson and two passengers in his truck, both of Cambridge, were taken to HCMC with non-life-threatening injuries. A fourth male passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized. Authorities have not released his name or current condition. Alcohol was not involved, the Patrol said.
