Man Charged After High-Speed Brooklyn Park Chase Ends in Crash
A Brooklyn Park man is charged with felony fleeing after allegedly crashing into another car during a police pursuit, leaving the uninvolved driver with a broken jaw.
Isiah Kente Shivers, 42, is accused of leading a Brooklyn Park officer on a high-speed chase around 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, after police spotted a Dodge Charger and an Acura speeding near Zane Avenue North and Oak Grove Parkway.

The officer attempted to stop both of the vehicles, suspecting they were racing. According to the criminal complaint, the officer caught up to the Dodge Charger and activated emergency lights, but the driver continued fleeing.
While trying to turn into a shopping center, the driver of the Charger crashed into the Discount Tire building. The officer was able to briefly see the driver and later identified him as Shivers based on his appearance and the vehicle registration.
Despite the crash, Shivers allegedly continued fleeing, driving the wrong way on Oak Grove Parkway before slamming into the Acura that had been spotted earlier by police. The collision disabled both vehicles. The driver of the Acura—who was alone in the car—was found unconscious and later diagnosed with a broken jaw, court documents say.

Shivers reportedly fled on foot before police could arrest him. Officers observed what appeared to be blood inside the Charger and on a shoe inside the car, but they were unable to track Shivers at the time.
Later that day, Shivers contacted Minneapolis police and claimed he had been carjacked the night before. Officers taking the report noted that he had visible cuts and bruises. But on May 29, surveillance footage from Shivers' apartment building showed his Dodge Charger leaving the area just before the crash. Minutes later, Shivers was seen running back and trying to hide, the documents detail.
The same day, Shivers went to the Brooklyn Park Police Department to ask how he could retrieve his vehicle, but he was promptly arrested. Shivers made an initial court appearance late last week and is charged with one felony count of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle resulting in substantial bodily harm. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.
