Elderly Woman Dies After Car, Semi Collide in Winona

 

An 88-year-old woman died Thursday afternoon after colliding with a semi-truck at a Winona intersection.

The Minnesota State Patrol said the crash happened just after 2 p.m. at Highway 43 and Brookview Drive.

A Toyota Prius was traveling east on Brookview Drive when it collided with a northbound Peterbilt semi on Highway 43.

The Prius driver, identified as 88-year-old Ruth Ann Brockert Marshall, of Winona, was taken to Winona Health where she died from her injuries.

The semi driver, a 40-year-old man of Tomah, Wisc., was not hurt. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not involved, according to the State Patrol.

The road was dry at the time of the crash. The Winona County Sheriff’s Office, Winona Fire Department, Winona Area Ambulance Service and Winona Health assisted at the scene.
