According to the criminal complaint, Keller and the victim drove together to a home on 101st Avenue West late on Sept. 10 to meet a woman who was named in the documents though not charged with a crime.
The three argued outside the home about property they were supposed to split. During the dispute, Keller allegedly hit the woman. The victim told her to go inside, and she last saw the two men continuing to argue in and around a white SUV.
At 12:45 a.m. on Sept. 11, the woman received a text message from a number linked to Keller that read, “How’s [the victim] feeling you fuckinlosers.” She responded that she hadn’t seen him and the two exchanged heated messages. About six hours later, two neighbors found the victim lying in the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman later told officers what had happened earlier in the night. Investigators then tracked Keller to Superior, Wisc., where his girlfriend said he admitted that he and the victim had fought inside the SUV. She said Keller told her the fight “got really bad” and that while driving away he “hit [the victim] pretty good” with the vehicle.
A warrant has been issued for Keller’s arrest, authorizing execution in Minnesota and border states. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison, a $20,000 fine, or both. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim.
