An officer on patrol reported seeing King’s car stop on 2nd Street as people were yelling from inside. When the officer approached, he found a woman lying in the street, covered in blood and suffering from a one-inch stab wound to the neck. The officer initially thought the woman had been shot due to the amount of blood. The victim told him that a female had stabbed her.
Emergency responders from Mayo Clinic Ambulance and Rochester Fire provided lifesaving care before the woman was rushed into surgery at St. Marys Hospital.
Investigators reviewed surveillance video from several cameras near the parking ramp and identified King as the suspect. Footage showed her approaching the ramp and later holding a knife in her hand moments after the stabbing. At one point, she appeared to throw an item to the south before returning to retrieve it.

Police arrested King later that evening. She allegedly told officers she and the victim got into a fight after meeting for the first time that night. King claimed the victim tried to run her over and admitted she used a knife during the confrontation.
King is charged with first-degree assault causing great bodily harm and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in prison on the most serious charge.
King made an initial court appearance Tuesday where bail was set at $25,000 with conditions including remain law abiding and have no contact with the victim. Court records show she posted bond and has been released from custody.
