Officers immediately began providing medical aid while securing the scene. The employee was transported to a hospital in critical condition, where he remains as of publication.

Responders reported the man suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen along with a through-and-through wound to the hip, according to initial radio dispatches reviewed by MN CRIME. A chest seal was applied before paramedics transported him from the store.

Police established a perimeter across the surrounding area as multiple agencies assisted in a large-scale search for the suspects. K9 teams conducted a ground search while a Minnesota State Patrol helicopter and at least one police drone searched from the air. During the manhunt, officers located a discarded ski mask believed to be connected to the suspects, per radio dispatches.

Two potential suspects fled the area on foot shortly after the shooting, the radio dispatches said, and were described as Black males wearing black ski masks and dark clothing. Officers canvassed nearby businesses and residential areas, seeking surveillance footage that may have captured the shooting or the suspects’ movements, including exterior business cameras and residential doorbell video.

The perimeter was later scaled back shortly before 10 p.m., with no arrests announced.

Police have not said what led up to the shooting and described the motive as unknown. The investigation remains active as detectives work to identify and locate those involved.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 911.
