Shortly before 3 p.m on Saturday, crews were dispatched to the 1600 block of 2nd Avenue Northeast in Rochester for a report of flames in the upstairs bedroom of a residence. Initial arriving crews reported they had fire showing from the back of the house, and heavy smoke showing from the roof.

Crews pulled two hose lines, one to knock down the fire from the exterior of the house, and one to knock the fire down from the inside. An interior search was performed to confirm there were no victims still inside the home.

According to scanner audio, one patient was transported to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, suffering from smoke inhalation and possible airway burns. An update on their condition was unavailable as of Saturday evening.

The home sustained significant smoke, fire and water damage according to the fire department.

The Rochester Fire Marshal’s division is conducting an investigation into the cause of the blaze.
