Police later identified the victim as 33-year-old Darius Handy, of Duluth. Authorities said Wednesday morning investigators believe the suspect and Handy knew each other and there’s no active threat to the public.
Officers were called to the area after reports of a shooting and found Handy upon their arrival. He was pronounced dead at the scene and investigators have not yet released information about a suspect or the circumstances that led to the shooting, saying the case remains active.
Authorities are also examining whether the homicide is connected to a Saint Louis County deputy-involved shooting that occurred later the same day. Officials have not said what evidence, if any, links the two incidents and said the relationship between the cases remains under investigation.
