Initial information indicates the shooting stemmed from an altercation between the injured man and another man that escalated to gunfire. Officers secured the scene and canvassed the area while Minneapolis Police Department forensic scientists processed the residence and collected evidence. No arrests have been announced in that case.

About seven minutes later, at approximately 6:36 p.m., officers were sent to the 2000 block of West River Road North for another report of gunfire. Officers located a man outside with apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was transported by ambulance to North Memorial Healthcare.

Preliminary information indicates the man was walking outside when gunfire erupted. Officers secured the area and collected evidence while MPD forensic scientists processed the scene. Investigators continue working to determine the sequence of events that led up to the shooting.

Hours later, at about 2:50 a.m., investigators located a vehicle believed to be connected to that shooting driving near 31st Avenue North and 6th Street North. Minneapolis police and Hennepin County authorities conducted a felony traffic stop where three men—ages 18, 21 and 22—were taken into custody and booked into the Hennepin County Jail on weapons charges.

Just ten minutes after the West River Road shooting, officers were called to another report of gunfire at about 6:46 p.m. on the 800 block of Franklin Avenue East. There, officers found a woman who had been struck by gunfire and suffered at least one apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Initial information indicates she was outside when shots were fired. Officers secured the scene and gathered evidence while MPD forensic scientists processed the area. No arrests have been announced in that investigation.

Authorities have not indicated that the three shootings are connected as detectives continue reviewing evidence and working to determine what led to each incident.
