Officers executing a search warrant at a north Minneapolis residence saw a man try to jump from an upstairs window and toss a bag of suspected drugs outside before he was arrested, according to the complaint.

Eric Britten faces six felony drug charges in Hennepin County District Court, including first-degree sale of cocaine or methamphetamine, first-degree possession of cocaine or methamphetamine, two counts of third-degree sale of a narcotic and two counts of fifth-degree drug possession. The charges were filed October 21.

According to the complaint, on October 6, 2026, officers from multiple agencies served a search warrant at a residence on the 1200 block of 26th Avenue North in Minneapolis after receiving information that Britten was selling cocaine and fentanyl from the home and living in an upstairs bedroom. Officers announced their presence at the front door several times but got no response, so they breached the door and entered.

As officers entered, others stationed outside saw Britten attempt to jump out of an upstairs window. Officers ordered him to return inside, and he complied. The complaint states Britten then threw a plastic bag out of the same window. Officers took him into custody.

A search of Britten’s person turned up a plastic bag containing suspected cocaine, which later tested positive for cocaine and weighed .57 gram without packaging. Under the window Britten had tried to jump from, officers found a large plastic bag holding numerous smaller bags.

Testing showed these contained powder cocaine (11.53 grams in 12 bags), crack cocaine (9.35 grams in 10 bags), methamphetamine (4.49 grams in 9 bags) and fentanyl (.37 gram in 4 bags). Each bag contained about one gram of powder or crack cocaine, about half a gram of methamphetamine or about one tenth of a gram of fentanyl.

Inside an upstairs bedroom, officers found a backpack with two more plastic bags. One bag contained 9.75 grams of cocaine, and the other held 70.32 grams of cocaine. The backpack also contained glass measuring cups, a metal strainer, a digital scale and gloves, which officers recognized as items commonly used to prepare and sell crack cocaine. Officers also found mail, documents and prescription bottles with Britten’s name in the bedroom.

Additionally, officers recovered an Anschutz model 1450 .22 caliber rifle and assorted ammunition inside the residence.
