A man has been sentenced to 7 years and 3 months in prison for his role in the 2024 robbery of a package of marijuana from a delivery service employee at a home in Maplewood, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota said.

Eric Maurice Holliday was sentenced on Oct. 8, 2026, to 7 years and 3 months (87 months) on one count of aiding and abetting interference with commerce by robbery, the office said. He pleaded guilty on June 11, 2026, and U.S. District Judge Patrick J. Schiltz handed down the sentence, according to the release.

According to court documents cited by prosecutors, Holliday learned in early April 2024 that a package containing about 10 pounds of marijuana would be delivered by a commercial package delivery service to a home in Maplewood. He had access to the package’s tracking number and knew when it would be delivered, the office said.

On or about April 19, 2024, Holliday went to the home with three other people, intending to take the package, the office said. One of the three was armed with a gun, prosecutors said.

When the group arrived, they saw a delivery service employee bring the package to the door and a man standing at the doorway of the house, the office said.

The armed member of the group and two others got out of the car, prosecutors said. Carrying the gun visibly in one hand, he ran up to the employee, wrestled the package from the employee’s hands and ran back to the car, the office said.

After the package was taken, the armed member of the group and the man at the doorway fired guns toward each other while the delivery service employee hid behind a car to avoid the gunfire, prosecutors said.

Holliday, the armed man and others then drove to a nearby home, where they divided the marijuana among themselves, the office said. Holliday intended to sell the marijuana, prosecutors said.

At the sentencing hearing, Schiltz noted that Holliday instigated the plan and that he took part in a “reckless and dangerous crime that easily could have gotten someone killed,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
