2 Siblings Dead, Mom Hurt in Minneapolis Apartment Shooting
A man and woman in their 20s were found dead and another woman was hospitalized early Tuesday after a domestic-related shooting in a south Minneapolis apartment.
Minneapolis officers were called to a report of gunfire just after 12:30 a.m. at an apartment in the 100 block of East 59th Street in the Windom neighborhood.
Inside, they found two people dead and another woman in her 40s with a gunshot wound. She was taken to Hennepin Healthcare for treatment and is expected to survive.

Police say the initial information suggests the man and woman who died were siblings and that their mother was the third person shot. Investigators believe the dispute turned violent inside the apartment, with the man shooting both women before dying of what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“This appears to be a heartbreaking tragedy that has destroyed a family,” Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said in a written statement. “While the investigation is ongoing, our hearts are with the surviving family members as we work to understand what occurred.”

Police have not said what led to the dispute or whether anyone else was inside the apartment at the time. Officers remained on scene for several hours Tuesday morning, canvassing the area and interviewing witnesses.
The names of the deceased, along with official causes of death, will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Authorities continue to investigate what led to the violence and are asking anyone with information to contact CrimeStoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
