2 Dead, 8 Others Wounded in Twin Cities Shootings Overnight

Police are investigating four separate overnight shootings in Minneapolis and Saint Paul that left ten wounded, with two people later dying at hospitals.

Minneapolis police say 4th precinct officers were called to the area of Knox Ave. N. and Plymouth Ave. N. at 8:15 p.m. to a ShotSpotter activation and 911 calls of shots fired.

Officers arrived and found a 16-year-old male with life-threatening gunshot wounds and began rendering aid.

The male was transported to Hennepin Healthcare but was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

About 15 minutes later, Saint Paul police officers responded to the 1300 block of Arkwright St. for a report of shots fired, with one 911 caller reported they located a victim outside.

Police arrived and found an adult male with a gunshot wound to the chest. According to scanner audio, the man was shot during robbery attempt and police began looking for the suspect.

The man was transported to Regions Hospital and is expected to survive.

Around 9:15 p.m., Minneapolis police were called to the Winner Gas station at the intersection of West Broadway Ave. and Lyndale Ave. N.

Police say that four people were hit by gunfire and two suffered potentially life-threatening injuries. The other two victims are expected to survive.

Another fatal shooting in Minneapolis occurred around 1 a.m. Friday on the 1400 block of Washington Ave. S.

Police arrived and located a 30-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was transported by ambulance to Hennepin Healthcare where he was pronounced deceased.

A second male was found at the scene and transported by ambulance to Hennepin Healthcare with potentially life-threatening wounds.

A third and a fourth victim arrived at the hospital in a private vehicle with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Police say all the victims from the Washington Ave. S. shooting are males in their 30s. According to police, preliminary information indicates that an altercation took place inside a bar hosting a private party which escalated into a shooting.

Minneapolis police say the homicides are the 61st and 62nd of the year.

No arrests have been made in any of the shootings.
