1 Dead After Early Morning Semi Crash In Mower County

A man died early Monday after a semi rollover on Interstate 90 in Mower County, authorities say.

The crash happened around 1:20 a.m. near mile marker 183 in Windom Township, according to a Minnesota State Patrol crash report.

Initial information indicates the driver of a westbound semi left the roadway to the left and the vehicle rolled onto its side before coming to rest in the median ditch. The road was wet at the time and no other vehicles were involved.

The driver, a 41-year-old man from Kitchener, Ontario, was wearing a seat belt and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment. Authorities said alcohol was not suspected.

The passenger, 45-year-old Ajish Thomas of London, Ontario, was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rose Creek Fire, Mayo Ambulance and the Mower County Sheriff’s Office assisted. The crash remains under investigation.
