Woman’s Maplewood McDonald’s Rampage Leads to Felony Charge
BY MN CRIME STAFF
A woman released earlier in the day in a Washington County felony drug case is now accused of causing $1,000 in damage inside a Maplewood McDonald’s, throwing equipment and holiday decorations at staff Friday night.
Prosecutors charged 40-year-old Angela Jane Zwack with one felony count of first-degree damage to property for the Dec. 5 incident at the McDonald’s at 2935 Southlawn Drive North in Maplewood. The charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both.

According to the complaint, Zwack had been granted conditional release earlier that same day in a Washington County felony drug case after failing to appear for a Nov. 19 hearing. Officers had arrested her at an Arby’s, where she was reportedly yelling at customers and was found with drugs.
Just before 10 p.m., Maplewood officers were sent to the McDonald’s on a criminal damage report. A manager told police Zwack asked to use a phone, and when told customers could not use store phones, she began yelling at employees and at nearby customers. Those customers left the restaurant, the court documents say.
The restaurant manager said Zwack then struck plastic table-number stands with enough force to send them flying across the lobby. She threw a bin filled with ketchup packets that hit the manager in the arm and tossed a small Christmas tree that also struck the manager.
A register and its monitor stopped working after the outburst. Surveillance video shows Zwack pulling on an electronic item at the counter with such force that she stumbled backward when she let go. The footage also shows her throwing items at employees, repeatedly yanking on a monitor and register as if trying to break them from their stand, then tossing a corded device behind the counter.
A director of operations told officers it would cost more than $1,000 to replace the damaged equipment.
Zwack was arrested at the scene and a judge later ordered her held on $10,000 bail.
Court records show Zwack has a lengthy history of police contacts and criminal convictions in several counties. In 2015, she was convicted in Dakota County of misdemeanor fifth-degree assault in a case that also included dismissed counts of obstructing legal process, disorderly conduct and possessing drug paraphernalia.
In 2025, she was convicted of disorderly conduct in Washington County and Chisago County in separate cases. She was also convicted in September in Washington County of obstructing legal process involving an allegation of force or threatened force.

Zwack has two misdemeanor arson convictions from 2025. One was filed in Washington County. The other occurred in Ramsey County after a fire was set in a garbage can outside the Holiday gas station on Larpenteur Avenue in Roseville. Surveillance video in the Roseville case showed her igniting items inside the garbage can and adding more material to keep the fire burning as the plastic lid melted. When asked whether she set the fire, she reportedly smiled and said, “I guess you will have to watch the video to find out.” Prosecutors sought a warrant in that case because she had no permanent address.
Police reports from this year show she has had repeated encounters involving public disturbances, drugs and warrants. On Oct. 30, Forest Lake officers responded to a disturbance at Arby’s where Zwack was yelling at customers. She was found in the Super America parking lot drinking malt liquor and carrying two bags of methamphetamine.
On Oct. 3, Oak Park Heights officers found her intoxicated and asking strangers for rides at an apartment complex. When officers searched her property after arresting her on a warrant, they found alcohol, drug paraphernalia and 1.4 grams of methamphetamine.
On Aug. 25, Oak Park Heights officers responded to a disturbance outside Carbones, where Zwack pulled away, yelled and resisted as officers tried to take her into custody on outstanding warrants. An officer sustained a cut to her elbow during the struggle.
On Sept. 23, Maplewood officers encountered Zwack during a late-night check at Keller Regional Park. The man she had been riding with was arrested for refusing commands, and police found cocaine in his pockets. He told officers he was holding the drugs for Zwack.
Authorities say her housing instability appears frequently in police reports and has contributed to her missed court appearances and repeated warrant activity.
