They arrived to find the woman unresponsive in the yard near a vehicle that had come to a stop after striking her. Paramedics with Saint Paul Fire attempted lifesaving measures but pronounced her dead at the scene.

Police say the driver, an adult male, remained at the location and is cooperating with investigators. No arrests had been made at the time of publication.

Early evidence indicates the driver struck the woman before the vehicle came to a stop in the backyard. Authorities have not yet confirmed if the driver and the woman knew each other or if charges may be filed.
