The incident drew a large police response and is now under investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

Prosecutors charged Wendell Terrell Brown, of Maplewood, with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited due to a prior crime of violence and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.

Officers were first dispatched around 10:45 p.m. Saturday to a home in the 3800 block of Willow Ridge Drive Southwest for a reported domestic dispute. Initial info indicated a man involved was armed with a knife, but he left the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived.

Multiple law enforcement and emergency vehicles responded to the area, including two armored BearCat vehicles and the Burnsville Police Mobile Command Center.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, officers from multiple jurisdictions responded to a report of a man with a gun near the 15200 block of Snowy Owl Street NW in Ramsey.

The incident began around 10:15 p.m. on April 8, 2025, when a Minnetonka officer on patrol observed a driver making several traffic violations in the area of I-394 and Hopkins Crossroad.

Officers arrived at the scene on the 1900 block of Wilson Avenue around 4 p.m. and met with the victim outside the residence. She said her ex-partner was inside and may have been armed with a firearm.

Believing the suspect was armed, officers quickly evacuated the victim and attempted to make contact with the man in the basement but received no response. SWAT activated and a perimeter was set up around the home.

Burnsville police responded to the 1800 block of Country View Drive shortly before 4:45 p.m. and secured the area, closing parts of County Road 11 and Country View and activating a shelter-in-place alert for nearby residents.

Deputies on scene determined there was probable cause to arrest the suspect for domestic assault. When contacted by phone, he refused to come outside, made threats and claimed to have multiple firearms.
