The charges stem from an incident just after 5 a.m. on July 3 in the parking lot of River View Suites on the 200 block of 1st Street Northeast.
Rochester police responded to reports that a man had been struck by a car. When officers arrived, they found a man lying motionless on the ground as people nearby pointed out a red Nissan Altima as the suspect vehicle. Officer Daniel Rodenwald used his squad car to block the parking lot exit, but the Nissan reportedly rammed his vehicle multiple times before officers blocked it in and arrested the driver, identified as Mohamed.
According to the complaint, an adult woman at the scene told officers she and her boyfriend were walking through the lot when they encountered Mohamed, who she knew through the community and had prior conflict with. She said Mohamed initially tried to start a fight, then got into her vehicle, reversed out of a parking spot, and accelerated forward, hitting her boyfriend in the thigh and knocking him to the ground before driving over him. The woman said she was also struck but not injured and confirmed that Mohamed was the driver.

Another officer at the scene reported seeing Mohamed’s Nissan trying to leave the area and ramming another squad car while attempting to flee the scene. Mohamed allegedly told officers she had gotten into a physical altercation with the woman and that the man was pushed to the ground but denied running him over. She also claimed she struck the squad car because she wasn’t wearing her glasses at the time.
Officers noted that Mohamed had bloodshot, watery eyes and smelled of alcohol. She admitted to drinking earlier in the night and failed several field sobriety tests. A preliminary breath test showed a result of 0.146. Mohamed was arrested, and a blood sample was taken around 6:54 a.m.
The man she allegedly ran over was transported to Saint Mary’s Hospital and treated for a broken femur and other external injuries. The woman did not seek medical attention.
Mohamed made her initial court appearance on Monday and remains in custody. Bail was set at $50,000 without conditions or $10,000 with conditions. If released under conditional bail, she must abide by multiple conditions including no use or possession of alcohol, drugs, or weapons and must wear an alcohol monitor. Her next court hearing is scheduled for July 15. She faces up to 10 years in prison on the most serious charge.
