Although initial reports indicated the suspect had fled on foot, investigators later identified a possible suspect vehicle—a white, newer-model Toyota sedan—captured on nearby security video leaving the apartment’s parking lot shortly after the shooting.

In response, police established a perimeter around the area and deployed drones and K-9 units in an effort to locate the suspect. The Minnesota State Patrol provided aerial assistance and officers from Savage, Bloomington, Apple Valley, Eagan and West St. Paul also responded to assist with the search.

The search was called off around 1:20 a.m. with the suspect not located. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or the Burnsville Police Department at 952-895-4600.
