Minneapolis Gun Robbery Ends With Officer Assault Charge
BY MN CRIME STAFF
A Minneapolis man is facing an aggravated robbery charge after allegedly pointing a handgun at a woman inside an apartment building and assaulting a police officer.
According to court documents, Khalid Said Barre, 33, is charged with first-degree aggravated robbery and fourth-degree assault of a peace officer in connection with an incident on Dec, 27, 2025, at an apartment building at 1615 South Fourth Street in Minneapolis.
The criminal complaint states Minneapolis police were dispatched to the building on a report of a robbery involving a gun. Officers spoke with an adult woman who said she had entered the building earlier that day carrying several personal items, including a speaker, when she encountered an unknown man in the lobby. She described his appearance, clothing and ethnicity. Police later identified the man as Barre, and the woman confirmed that identification during a show-up.

The woman told police Barre began talking to her in the lobby. She said she was not interested and walked away. As she did, Barre took the speaker from her belongings and placed it into the pocket of his hoodie. When she tried to get the speaker back and grabbed it, Barre pulled a gray-colored handgun from another pocket and pointed it at her. After seeing the gun, the woman released the speaker and entered an elevator.
Prosecutors say Barre followed her into the elevator and asked whether she was going to call police. He then took her cellphone and smashed it on the ground. Officers later noted the phone had a visibly cracked screen. The woman later saw Barre inside the building again and called 911.
Police went to the last location where the woman reported seeing Barre. While looking into a stairwell doorway, officers observed Barre, who ran down the stairs. The complaint says Barre refused commands and resisted as officers tried to detain him.
During the struggle, officers felt a handgun on Barre’s person and were able to remove it. As officers attempted to gain control, Barre pushed one officer down a flight of stairs. The officer fell onto his side and suffered a cut to his hand.
The woman later completed a show-up identification, telling police Barre was the man who took her speaker and pointed a gun at her.
