Man Killed in Early Tuesday Shooting at North Minneapolis Home

Minneapolis police are investigating an early morning shooting that left a man dead inside a residence.
The shooting was reported at about 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 23 at a home in the 1600 block of Thomas Avenue North.
Fourth Precinct officers arriving at the scene found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers provided emergency medical care, including CPR, until paramedics arrived. The man was transported to North Memorial Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Initial information released by police indicates a verbal argument inside the residence escalated into gunfire. The shooter left the scene before officers arrived.
Investigators continued working to determine the sequence of events that led up to the shooting and Minneapolis forensic scientists responded to process the scene and collect evidence.

Police later arrested a 17-year-old in connection with the shooting. Investigators are also examining whether the teen may be connected to other violent crimes reported in Minneapolis this year. Authorities have not released additional details about those potential links.
In a statement, Police Chief Brian O’Hara said the department will use every available option within the juvenile justice system to address cases involving young people. The suspect and victim have not yet been identified.
