An Otsego man charged after a crash in Anoka that killed a Ham Lake woman last year has been convicted of criminal vehicular homicide, according to Anoka County District Court records.
Zachary Scott Lee Wydella, who was 37 when he was charged, was convicted of criminal vehicular homicide for operating a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more, the court register shows. The other count, criminal vehicular homicide for operating a vehicle with negligence while under the influence of alcohol, was dismissed. Both dispositions are dated Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Wydella was sentenced the same day to four years in prison and committed to the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud, with credit for 190 days already served. He was also ordered to supply a DNA sample. The case is closed. Court records now list Wydella’s address in Otsego; he was listed as a Coon Rapids resident when he was charged.
Wydella was charged in March 2025 after Anoka police responded to a two-vehicle collision on North Street on Monday, March 10, 2025. MN CRIME reported at the time, citing the criminal complaint, that officers found Wydella regaining consciousness in a Toyota Sienna minivan and found the other driver, identified by authorities as 51-year-old Ann Marie Moore of Ham Lake, unresponsive in a Toyota Yaris. Emergency personnel determined she had died at the scene. A court-ordered blood sample showed his alcohol concentration was 0.246, according to the complaint, more than three times the legal limit.
