Investigators learned from the victim’s girlfriend that an earlier argument over a payment for hair braiding escalated when Williams—who is the boyfriend of Rodriguez’ girlfriend’s daughter—arrived at the apartment building. She told police that Williams confronted Rodriguez outside their unit, argued for a few minutes, then shot him and fled in a white Subaru with her daughter. Surveillance footage reportedly captured Williams arriving at the scene and then fleeing shortly after the shooting.
Williams is charged with second-degree murder with intent, which carries a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison. WIlliams is expected to make an initial court appearance Thursday.
