During phone monitoring, authorities intercepted the suspect having a conversation indicating plans to smuggle contraband into the jail.

A 2012 Chevrolet Cruze crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan. Law enforcement identified the driver of the Cruze as Ashlee Rose Klapperick, 36.

The crash occurred along Rush Lake Trail in Nessel Township. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found two vehicles with severe front-end damage: a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze and a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan.

Upon arrival, deputies found the home engulfed in flames. Fire crews worked to control the blaze and later discovered the two deceased individuals inside.

The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office said occupants reported a suspected electrical issue near the area where the fire started. That lead is being investigated as authorities work to determine the official cause of the blaze.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2008 Honda Civic, driven by a 59-year-old man from Amery, Wisconsin was traveling eastbound on Highway 8 when it crossed the center line and struck a 2020 Mazda CX-5 head-on.
