Robert Lauerne Ramsey was convicted of second-degree murder without intent while committing a felony in the Nov. 3, 2024 killing of Lester Haynes at Redeemer Arms.

After the attack, the woman ran to a nearby home for help and was taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment. The suspect fled north from the scene.

The outage knocked out all essential systems, including elevators, alarms and the building’s fire suppression network. Without power or running water, the property was deemed unsafe.

According to a criminal complaint filed Friday in Ramsey County, 33-year-old Stephan Andrew James is charged with first-degree assault causing great bodily harm and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.

According to the charges, 26-year-old Nebil Seid Birhan is accused of attacking his 58-year-old employer inside the BP station at 3110 Cleveland Avenue on Sept. 30.

Police were called just after 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 26 to Maryland Avenue, where they found the victim, 31-year-old Abdul Bakr Jafar, fatally injured in the roadway.

A Maplewood PD spokesperson said officers were called around 4:30 a.m. after a newspaper delivery driver reported finding a man down in the roadway and seeing a van speed away.

Officers and deputies responded around 5:40 p.m. to the 2100 block of Maplewood Drive North, in Keller Regional Park, after reports of shots fired during the ceremony involving around 100 people.

Responders arrived to find a woman unresponsive in the yard near a vehicle that had come to a stop after striking her. Paramedics attempted lifesaving measures but pronounced her dead at the scene.

The driver, who has been identified only as an adult male, stayed at the scene and called 911. Investigators said he showed no signs of impairment and cooperated with officers.

According to a criminal complaint, troopers and medics were called to a rollover crash around 6:25 p.m. on Sept. 20 on the ramp to southbound Highway 61 from eastbound Highway 36.

Troopers say a black Chevrolet Tahoe was exiting at a high speed when the driver went off the roadway. The vehicle rolled into the ditch and landed upside down, partially submerged in one to two feet of water.
