Sirleaf has been charged with second-degree murder with intent (not premeditated), while Davies has been charged with aiding an offender.

According to court documents, witnesses reported a red SUV being involved in the incident. Responding officers found the victim, identified as Adams, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Adams was rushed to the hospital but later died.

Detectives spoke with several witnesses and learned that the victim had been staying at the Extended Stay Hotel next to the Cub Foods for several weeks.

One witness reported hearing a "pop" and seeing the victim fall to the ground, with a red SUV fleeing the scene. Surveillance footage showed a distinct burgundy-colored Buick SUV driving to the west parking lot of Cub Foods, pulling in front of the victim's truck, and arguing with the occupant before a gunshot was heard.

Adams fell to the ground and the Buick SUV then fled the scene.

After canvassing the area, officers located a vehicle matching the description in the parking lot of a nearby apartment building on the 6000 block of Main St. NE in Fridley. Detectives confirmed through video surveillance that the Buick SUV had left the shooting scene and drove straight to the parking lot where it was found. The Buick's license plate registered to two people at an address in Plymouth. Both people had contacts at that address with Sirleaf, the documents said.

Further investigation revealed that Davies had a 2004 white Ford F‐250, registered to him, which is now registered to another person sharing his last name and home address. Detectives obtained tracking search warrants for both Davies and Sirleaf's cell phones and observed communications between the two suspects before and after the shooting.

Both Sirleaf and Davies have been convicted of prior felonies. The motive for Adams’ murder remains unclear.

At the time of the Fridley shooting, Davies was on parole and Sirleaf had two active warrants for his arrest out of Olmsted County.

According to court documents filed in Wright County, Devon Adams was charged with assaulting his girlfriend with boiling water in October 2022. Officers reported significant burns to the victim’s face at the time, and that she was unable to see out of her left eye. The case was scheduled for a jury trial beginning on March 13.
