A 6-year-old girl is the latest casualty of a string of shootings in Minneapolis that have critically injured young children. Aniya Allen died of her injuries Wednesday at Hennepin County Medical Center after being rushed there late Monday.

A young girl under the age of 10 was struck by errant gunfire while jumping on a trampoline outside a north Minneapolis residence Saturday evening. She was in “very critical condition” after an officer rushed her to a nearby hospital in a squad car.

A two-vehicle crash on I-35 just south of Hinckley, Minn., left one person dead and two others seriously injured just after 4 p.m. Friday, May 14. According to a preliminary investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol, Tabitha Sue Sigler, 21, was driving a Mitsubishi Endeavor southbound on I-35 when she crossed the median and struck a Kia Sportage that was in the northbound lanes.

Joseph Thomas Ness is accused of firing hundreds of rounds from AR-15 and AK-47 rifles inside before he fled the scene and his 25-year-old sister was found dead by officers.

Minneapolis police are investigating a homicide after a shooting downtown Saturday, May 8 left a woman dead and a man injured. The gunfire rang out near S. 9th St. & Lasalle Ave. around 10:20 p.m., with police later finding the female victim there with a gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities were at the scene of a bank robbery and hostage situation at a Wells Fargo bank branch in St. Cloud, Minn., for more than eight hours on Thursday afternoon and into the evening. They took the suspect into custody by 10:30 p.m. after four hostages were released and a final hostage leapt to safety.

According to court documents, on the night of May 28, 2020, Branden Michael Wolfe, 23, went to the 3rd Precinct, where a crowd of hundreds had gathered after George Floyd’s death. Wolfe entered the building and stole several items including a police vest, duty belt, handcuffs, earpiece, baton, knife, riot helmet, pistol magazine, police radio, police overdose kit, uniform name plates and ammunition. He was arrested on June 3, 2020, after being spotted wearing the police vest, the duty belt and carrying the tactical baton in St. Paul.

St. Paul firefighters responded to two structure fires within the city in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 4. Firefighters were dispatched to the first structure fire just before 1:30 a.m. A garage fire was reported in the 500 block of Thomas Ave. in the Frogtown neighborhood.

State Troopers near Owatonna spotted a freshly stolen vehicle from the Holiday gas station on I-35, just north of the city late Sunday afternoon, April 25. Troopers initiated a pursuit and the driver fled at a high rate of speed to the north. Troopers continued the pursuit north into the city of Bloomington.

Minneapolis police are investigating the city’s 23rd homicide of 2021 after a 19-year-old woman was found dead inside a residence on the south side of the city Friday afternoon. A suspect, Jose Daniel Cuenca-Zuniga, 23, was arrested in Ohio later the same day, police said, and will be extradited to Minnesota to face charges.
