Ismael Vasquez Santos, 23, of Royalton, now faces two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault after allegedly gunning down two men northwest of Foley.

15-year-old David Rosas, of Rosemount, was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion eastbound on County Road 46. Rosas was following behind a semi-truck when he attempted to pass it by crossing into the westbound lane in a marked no-passing zone.

Officers found a man lying near the intersection with multiple gunshot wounds. According to police radio dispatches, the victim was found with wounds to the abdomen, leg and jaw. He was unresponsive and CPR was underway shortly before 9:55 p.m.

A federal jury convicted Derrick John Thompson, 29, of one count of possessing with intent to distribute fentanyl, one count of possessing a firearm as a felon, and one count of carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime.

Initial information suggests that a confrontation near the street quickly escalated into gunfire. Witnesses told police that two men ran from the scene, while the man who was shot tried to flee westbound into the alley before collapsing.
