On October 27, 2025, officers of the Apple Valley Police Department responded to a report of a theft from a local business located in the City of Apple Valley, Dakota County, Minnesota. The officer spoke with employees of the business who reported that one female individual had distracted staff while a male individual had entered a back room and taken sixteen cartons of cigarettes and two cases of disposable lighters with a value of $2400. Officers reviewed surveillance footage and identified the two individuals as Bobby Earl Johnson, born on [DOB REDACTED], and Tominka Denise Sanders, born on [DOB REDACTED]. Officers reviewed surveillance footage which showed that also that day the two individuals entered the store multiple times, selected merchandise, concealed it on their person, and then left without purchasing it.
The surveillance footage also showed Mr. Johnson entering the backroom and selecting multiple items from a storage area and leaving without purchasing while Ms. Sanders spoke with store employees. The two individuals were observed outside on surveillance footage together as well.
