On April 6, 2026, at approximately 1:32 P.M., officers were called to the report of a disturbance at a residence in the City of Apple Valley, County of Dakota, State of Minnesota. As officers were responding to the service address, they located MARK CHOATE EDMO [DOB REDACTED], outside of his residence. EDMO told officers that there was a vehicle that had been driving up and down his street at sixty miles per hour lately and he was upset about it. EDMO stated that this afternoon he lost it, grabbed a hammer, and hit the other person’s vehicle with the hammer.
EDMO stated that he was sorry for his actions and had lost his cool. Officers located a hammer with a metal head on the ground in front of EDMO’S garage, which was seized as evidence. Officers then responded to the address provided in the call for service and located a vehicle that had its rear windshield broken in several places. Victim 1 told officers that he owned the vehicle and was the driver that afternoon. Victim 1 stated that he and his friends in the vehicle drove over to his family’s residence to say goodbye before the left to go home to South Dakota.
Victim 1 parked the vehicle in the driveway and went into the residence while his friends stayed outside. He then heard several loud bangs like gunshots, looked out the window, and saw EDMO threatening his friends with a hammer. Victim 1 then ran back outside and saw that his rear windshield had been broken. Statements were also taken from Victim 2, Victim 3, Victim 4, and Victim 5, who stated they were all either in the vehicle or next to it when EDMO approached. All of those individuals reported that EDMO began hitting the car with the hammer and then told them that if they drive like that in the neighborhood again that he would “fuck them up.” EDMO had the hammer raised in the air at the time he made that statement to the victims.
Each of the victims stated that they were fearful of EDMO and believed EDMO would hurt them with the hammer. Officers were provided with surveillance video from inside the residence showing EDMO approach and hit the vehicle with the hammer. EDMO can then be seen saying something in an animated manner while raising the hammer in the air and shaking it, before waking away.
