On April 19, 2026, at approximately 2:30 A.M., officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the City of Hastings, County of Dakota, State of Minnesota. Officers responded and spoke with the victim, who was crying and holding her hip. Officers also noted several other injuries on the victim [NAME REDACTED]. The victim told officers that boyfriend of three years, TYLER CHRISTIEN ANDERSON [DOB REDACTED], had hit her. The victim [NAME REDACTED] had been drinking that evening and was on the couch in the residence around 1:00 A.M. When ANDERSON came in the room and began yelling at her.
ANDERSON put his arm around the victim’s neck and the victim as able to get up and go into the kitchen. ANDERSON followed her into the kitchen and grabbed the victim [NAME REDACTED]. The victim [NAME REDACTED] was scared of ANDERSON at this point, so she grabbed a knife, but ANDERSON pushed her to the ground. The victim and ANDERSON then began fighting each other, with each of them biting the other. The victim [NAME REDACTED] on her hands from ANDERSON. The victim was able to get outside of the residence onto the porch but tried to re-enter the residence to get her phone.
When she did, ANDERSON pushed her to the ground again. The victim was able to grab a broken piece of railing and hit ANDERSON with it, but he was able to take it from her and hit her with it several times. Officers also spoke with Witness 1, who was in the residence at the time of the altercation. Witness 1 stated that he was on the couch with the victim when ANDERSON became very upset with the victim [NAME REDACTED] at her. Witness 1 saw the victim [NAME REDACTED], ANDERSON follow her, and ANDERSON put his hands around the victim’s neck.
Witness 1 then heard punches being thrown and the victim saying “ow” and “stop.” He then heard ANDERSON say “you pulled a knife on me” several times. Witness 1 then saw ANDERSON push the victim out onto the deck and heard the altercation continue. After ANDERSON came back inside, Witness 1 left and saw the victim [NAME REDACTED] on the ground crying outside the residence. Officers located ANDERSON and noted the strong odor of alcohol on his breath. ANDERSON stated the victim [NAME REDACTED] initial aggressor and that everything he did was in self-defense.
ANDERSON 3 19HA-CR-26-572 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 4/21/2026 stated that he did not recall the victim holding a knife at any time. ANDERSON was arrested and transported to the Dakota County Jail. Officers later followed up with the victim [NAME REDACTED] injuries and additional information she wished to provide. During those follow-up statements, the victim [NAME REDACTED] was choked by ANDERSON and now had visible marks on her neck and chest. The victim stated that when ANDERSON grabbed her by the neck it was mostly to hold her down, but that her breathing was affected.
